Respiratory Muscle Strength Training for Tracheostomy and Mechanical Ventilation

Free respiratory muscle strength training protocol is included with the course. The purpose of respiratory muscle strength training is to promote strength of the inspiratory and expiratory muscles.  Respiratory muscle strength training has clinical benefits including: improved dyspnea, peak cough flow, laryngeal function, QOL, vent weaning, speech, voice and swallow performance.  These benefits can translate to patients with tracheostomy and mechanical ventilation.

This webinar discusses information about how to perform respiratory muscle strength training on patients with tracheostomy or mechanical ventilation. It will provide helpful tips for decision making in using RMST for patients on mechanical ventilation or weaned to a tracheostomy tube.

The Respiratory Muscle Strength Training for Tracheostomy and Mechanical Ventilation webinar provides techniques of using The Breather device directly connected to the tracheostomy tube. The recording will also provide information for use of The Breather through the mouthpiece by using a speaking valve, finger occlusion or cap. This course is available for 0.1 ASHA CEUs .

This is a 60 minute recorded webinar to view at your own pace.  View Time Ordered Agenda here.
